Top Drawer 2021 Trends Revealed
The hotly anticipated Top Drawer 2021 trends have landed and you’re in for a treat.
The event is as much about the exchange of ideas as it is about buying and selling. With a love of design at the heart, Top Drawer offers a one stop shop for inspiration and access to uncover the latest Autumn/Winter trends.
This year we were like kids in a candy store. Not only did we get to visit in real life, but we also had three of our lovely customers exploring the trends area with us.
Top Drawer 2021 Trends Area
Earlier this year we ran our Creative Springboard competition, to identify the best upcoming design talent in the stationery world. Out of 250 amazing entries, we selected three winning customers who each won a Printed.com-sponsored spot at Top Drawer.
So, without further ado. Let’s get to the good stuff.
Trend one: Lavender
Lavender hues will create peace and tranquility. Pair with gold and nude accents to bring the colour to life.
Colour trends always change with the seasons. Typically we see darker and richer hues for the Autumn/Winter months. Think forestry greens and berry reds. Whilst during springtime we tend to embrace a medley of pastel colours, like lavender. So although this is unexpected, we can’t wait to see this colour popping up during the colder months.
Emmy Lupin, our Springboard Competition winner said,
I may be biased because my print is featured within this trend installation but Lavender is my favourite. I have found that pastel tones, like lavender, sit naturally in my colour palette alongside the other bright pops of colour.
Why not embrace this Top Drawer 2021 trend and test this colour out in your Greeting Cards designs or Giclée Fine Art Prints?
Trend two: Modern Folk
To achieve the Modern Folk look, use bold colours, unique prints, handmade accessories and funky fabrics.
The patterns and colours associated with Modern Folk really are a maximalists dream. Steph from Wild Living UK, our Springboard Competition winner said:
This is my favourite trend because of the muted tones and wild patterns. It inspires me to incorporate more textural elements and varied colours into my designs. I’ve got into bad habits and work with the same palette so this trend has given me a fresh perspective.
At Printed.com we’re no stranger to texture, and offer a range of paper stocks for all print projects. From earthy Kraft to textured Tinteretto Gesso, you can explore our paper stocks by ordering a free sample of your choice here.
Trend three: Monochrome Magic
Monochrome will make an appearance this Christmas. With grey being a prominent colour this year, the monochrome trend is ideal for continuing this hue into the festive season.
When it comes to holiday trends, there’s truly no limit to how extreme you can go. But this Christmas it’s time to give red and green a well-deserved break and say hello to a more minimal approach.
This trend oozes simplicity and opulence, which sounds like a perfect opportunity to introduce metallic accents. Foiling, a firm favourite for many of our customers, is ideal for special Invites and Greeting Cards.
Trend four: Tobacco Brown
Tobacco Brown is the perfect colour to incorporate into your work all year round. The natural essence of this colour will create a dark Scandi vibe.
Is brown the new black? it’s thought to create a wholesome feeling and a connection with the earth. It also pairs well with a variety of colours like green, orange and gold.
Try introducing this colour across your print through our Kraft paper. It’s a smooth, earthy brown and brings a vintage edge to any print. Just like this trend, Kraft paper suits bold and dark coloured designs.
