#ProudlyPrinted – The Handwritten Edition
This week saw the second ever World Calligraphy Day commence, in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
To celebrate the day, we’re taking a look at some of our favourite calligraphic customer artwork, all with the aim of inspiring you to sharpen your nibs, pick up your pens and get creative!
A Letter in Time
Giving calligraphy and hand-lettering a modern twist, Fran, the brains behind A Letter in Time, fuses bright colours with bold quotes and illustrations to create her striking designs. We asked Fran a little bit about what she does and why she does it…
“I am an illustrator/typographer/graphic designer based in London. I started sharing my doodles back in January and by the end of March I had people wanting to buy my designs so I opened up shop! My style is very eclectic but you can always find my love for colour (especially pink) and typography in my work. I find inspiration everywhere, from street signs to cereal packets, and I love playing around with new ideas until it feels right.”
“I’ve always thought there is a beauty in words that is often lost unless we write them down. When I hand letter I try and capture some of this beauty in my work. I love how we can write a word a thousand ways and no two designs will look the same but it won’t lose any of its meaning.”
DippyFish Cards
We recently chatted with Amelia, of Dippyfish Cards, and we couldn’t help but include her fun, playful hand illustrated cards here in our handwritten edition.
Featuring tongue in cheek humour, expert illustrations and printed on textured paper for a tactile finish, her cards certainly bring a smile to our faces when we see them hit the presses!
Pixel and Ink
Calligraphy and weddings are match made in heaven, and you can see why when you look at these simply stunning designs by Pixel and Ink. Hand lettered, hand finished and truly magical, Natasha’s stunning range of bespoke wedding suites are simply breathtaking – we certainly say ‘I do’ to this collection!
Colour Your Life Club
Strong statements, bold quotes and empowering messages are brought to life by Carly’s stunning typographic designs. Colour Your Life Club creates cards that would look just as good in a frame as they do on the mantelpiece – we guarantee whoever your recipient is, they’ll love theirs!
Little Lights
Little Lights has taken two names, and combined them to create a logo-esque piece that shares the sentiment of the big day. We love the simplicity and fluid design – it’s easy to see how it could transcend across an entire stationery suite and (almost) steal the show at any wedding!
