Talking TWIA with Mark Ewels Photography
As proud sponsors of the Stationery and Event Team of the Year category at The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA), we’re excited to support and champion all of the small businesses who were involved in this year’s event.
While the confetti settles on another fabulous awards evening at TWIA, we caught up with Mark Ewels, of Mark Ewels Photography – Regional Finalist at The Wedding Industry Awards.
Mark, tell us a little bit about your business…
It’s a little cliché I know but I’m very passionate about wedding photography and absolutely love what I do. I guess I describe my photography style as a combination of natural (with no wooden looking posing) and creative images, but ultimately I’m telling the wedding day story.
Usually, I like to work in a very unobtrusive way and prefer for much of the day to have a ‘fly on the wall’ approach and absolutely won’t take over the wedding day. I cover weddings across Norfolk and Suffolk and try to differentiate myself a little from other wedding photographers by offering ‘full day’ wedding collections without set hours – meaning that I arrive and leave whenever my clients would like me to, so that I can tell the complete wedding day story.
Do you think TWIA has made a difference to your business?
Being involved in TWIA has undoubtedly raised the profile of my business and being a regional finalist was amazing for networking with other passionate and dedicated suppliers. The TWIA logo has added a mark of quality to my work and my TWIA profile has driven traffic to website.
Tell us what a typical day working in the wedding industry is like?
I usually spend non-wedding days lovingly editing wedding photos, dealing with enquiries, wedding consultations, pre-wedding photoshoots, networking with other wedding suppliers and updating my social media accounts. Wedding days of course are rather special and a typical wedding can be 12 to 13 hours for me. It’s a long day but time actually flies and I love every second! The day usually starts with detail shots and bridal prep and runs right through to the movers and groovers on the dance floor late into the evening.
