A guide to ‘on-the-day’ wedding stationery
Once the save the dates and wedding invitations have gone out, it’s not the end of a stationer’s job. In fact, it’s only the beginning.
You can argue that actually the most important stationery is still to come, as ‘on-the-day’ printing items are crucial to a successful wedding. Whether it be helping point people in the right direction (with literal signage), guiding guests through the big day or adding those crucial special touches, on-the-day stationery can make such a difference to the most important day in a couple’s life!
Here’s a quick rundown on the some of the stationery you could be offering your happy couple as the perfect finishing touch!
Signage
Another really useful addition to add to your stationery suite is signage, which will help keep guests organised. Whether it be signs directing people to the right room (in large hotels this is a good idea) the toilets (with outdoor weddings this is a must!) or just a sign that is a bigger version of an order of service as Paper Fudge did, explains timings for the day, signage can help the day run smoothly and smooth out any stress.
Order of service
Essential for church weddings and ‘on-the-day’ printing products, an order of service is a run-through of the ceremony and how it will proceed. So if the engaged couple are getting married in a church, this stationery item is so useful, helping guests with details of the readings and hymns. A multi-page order of service is great for days that demand a booklet style detail, large enough to include the names of the whole wedding party, important details of the ceremony such as the exchanging of the rings, vows etc., and much more.
Guest books and photo books
A traditional guest book is an item the bride and groom look forward to reading later, so it’s an important stationery product not to overlook. Go the extra mile to showcase memories with a high impact, prestigious hardback book. The way ours are bound creates a flat finish when open which makes it easier for guests to write in. Built to stand the test of time, just like a marriage, landscape hardback books are also great as wedding photobooks, and can really bring the special day back to life when flicking through.
Table plan
Always a must at the wedding breakfast, this is the one ‘on-the-day’ printing item guests will clamour around, because well, food does that to people. A beautifully designed display board transforms into a helpful seating guide for guests to know who they’re sitting with and where in the room their table is. Print the table plan with the same theme as the invitations and it won’t go unnoticed by impressed guests.
Table stationery
A real elegant addition to a wedding are Menus, which add an extra touch of class to a wedding. They’re also helpful to guests who might want to save a little bit of room if they’re favourite pudding is coming up!
Names and numbers are useful again to avoid confusion with guests. Your bride and groom might have some personal ideas for table names that relate to them, which can even turn into more of a table centrepiece. They don’t just need to be traditional paper either, designer Nicola Hanrahan created floral garland motif stickers and popped them on old vinyl records for her client as they loved music so much.
Place cards or name cards are a pretty way to also keep guests organised on the table. Use the same font as the couple’s wedding suite for consistency.
Little extras
Add some little extra finishing touches to really impress your stationery clients. Wedding stationer Bea & Bloom came up with the idea of themed photo booth props, then there’s stickers as a great option for including on name/place cards, as well as on favours if it suits.
There’s plenty of ways to increase your stationery offering and give your clients even more to really make their biggest day the very best.
